A female nude, upside down, made with hard strokes and strong brush strokes, all imprisoned by heavy black edges. The heavy black of the outline is a real presence of the author, who created it by walking on the canvas.
Baselitz's painting can be easily defined with the terms realism and absence of compassion, the figures almost always emerge upside down, simple and gaunt in their forms; too many elements distract from the person (truth that we can apply to everyday life).
His work has often seen him engaged in the creation of sets in which it is easy to come across gesticulating and screaming figures.
His art has also declined in sculpture, his sculptural works are mainly made of wood and have been literally torn apart by ferocious blows, to make the wounds stand out more red color has been applied.
The violence of Baselitz's works does not go unnoticed so much so that one of his works was even confiscated by a magistrate with the following motivation: he could "arouse sexual appetites in the public". How wonderful respectability ...
