Caravaggio - The death of the Holy Virgin (1605-1606)

One of Caravaggio's greatest revolutions: everyday life is the protagonist of Art. No more idealized images, no more images designed to teach but everyday life elevated to divine.
Here, a funeral in a tavern or at least not an aristocratic place, a dead woman drowned in a river known by everyone as a well-known prostitute, ordinary people during the funeral vigil. All this made divine.
