Anton van Dyck - Charles I of England on the hunt (c. 1635-1638)

Van Dyck obtains the due recognition of court portraitist and English nobility, obviously Charles I is his greatest and best client.
We are not dealing with an official picture, it is mostly an image of private life. Despite this, Anton van Dyck infuses the work with a royalty and dignity superior to that of portraits in full uniform.
A masterpiece.
