Andrea Mantegna - Virgin of the Victory (1496)

In the best tradition of Mantegna, the work is a succession of symbols.
A sacred conversation under a lush pergola, of green leaves and fruits, recalls that Earthly Paradise that Adam and Eve (in the base of the throne) have lost because of their desire for knowledge.
A pyramidal construction, which highlights the figure of the Virgin, the only one who can intercede to make us return to the lost Paradise.
