Caspar David Friedrich - Port at night (1818-1819)

Caspar David Friedrich is the painter of silence.
Its compositions are never banal and even less obvious. The pair of spiers of Halle Cathedral seem to converse with the pair of immobile and silent women who show their closeness simply with one hand on the shoulder.
The whole work is dominated by a sense of silent silence and Caspar David Friedrich imposes himself as the poet of painting.
