Rembrandt - Return of the Prodigal Son (1668-1669)

The work that most of all lent itself to dietrologies that imposed themselves as the author's thought ... unfortunately happens.
Incredible and masterful the suspended atmosphere of the narrative. Human figures emerge from the darkness of the background (like ghosts). The light is intelligent and theatrical, illuminates what you need and leaves the rest in the shade.
The figure of the old blind father is an explosion of light in the face, leaving the background figures in shadow, which can become our presence that observes and asks questions about what happens.
The prodigal son is photographic in his poverty with cleverly lit broken shoes and clothes.
