Tintoretto - Birth of Saint John the Baptist (1554-1555)

Michelangelo's design and Titian's colors. According to tradition these were the intentions of Tintoretto in wanting to make this work.
One thing is certain, the design borders on perfection while the brushstroke of color is rapid, almost unscrupulous. Times are changing.
For a long time the subject was not understood, it was believed in a birth of the Virgin. But the characters are clear, on the right in the third floor the elderly Santa Elisabetta recovers from childbirth while the Virgin cousin with the baby in her arms attends to the breastfeeding of the nurse.
You feel the desire to turn in the artistic language.
