Giorgione - Judith (1495-1500)

Giorgione's painting fully enters the myth. His colors, the suspended atmosphere, the extraneousness of the characters, all contribute to making the world he creates with his brush impenetrable.
Judith is real even if she seems to be a symbol, Holofernes' body does not exist, there is only the head, in a position of submissive contempt.
The brightness of the sword disturbs for such perfection. Nature surrounds this work with so little classic cut, and it is a real Nature.
