Filippo Lippi - Vision of Saint Augustine (1450-1460)

Filippo Lippi is one of the first Renaissance fathers. Painter who dominated the love chronicles of the time (and ours too) for his love affair with a religious, for their subsequent breaking of vows and for the birth of a beautiful child: Filippino Lippi who will also become a painter .
The painting tells us of a tradition rather than a hagiographic chapter; a legend that makes us understand the impossibility of understanding the mysteries: a child who, with a shell, tries to pour the sea water into a hole.
